Old Xavs on the World Stage
Monday, 24 June 2024
Oliver Scalzo (OX 2021, second from left) and Harry Amad (OX 2018, second from right) both row for  Mercantile Rowing Club. Next month, they are travelling to England to race at the Henley Royal Regatta from July 2-7, racing in the Brittania Challenge Cup. This prestigious regatta is a goal for every rower to experience and is truly a bucket list regatta to race

Both rowed in the 1st VIII whilst at school and have since continued to compete in the sport they fell in love with at Xavier.

It isn’t often Old Xaverians compete on the world stage, and less often together in the same boat! The only current Old Xav still rowing on the world stage is Simon Keenan (OX 2010) who will be racing at the Paris Olympics later this year

Being an international race, a Henley campaign is a largely self-funded venture. For full time uni students and part time workers, the cost of flights, accommodation, boat/oar hire, entry fees, seat fees, etc, is not cheap. The squad rely on fundraising campaigns and the generosity of those in the community to help us get there and win.

Everybody who donates becomes a part of this special journey with Oliver, Harry and their coaches and fellow rowers
