To raise awareness of Huntington's disease and the power of movement, Oliver Scalzo (OX 2021) undertook a remarkable challenge - riding continuously for 24 hours around Albert Park Lake. Starting at 2.00pm on Friday and finishing at 2.00pm on Saturday, Oliver completed an extraordinary 675 kilometres. The ride was deeply personal, reflecting his family's connection to Huntington's disease and his commitment to increasing understanding of a condition that affects many families. Throughout the challenge, Oliver was supported by Will Allen (OX 2023), who rode alongside him for 13 hours, as well as his father and a group of Old Xaverians from the Class of 2021. Their presence, particularly through the early hours of Saturday morning, spoke to the strength of friendship and community. While there is no cure for Huntington's disease, research continues to highlight the benefits of an active lifestyle. |
